Holy FFfff I just paid a lot for this... but I guess it's just one of those filthy, quirky records you just have to own. Nevermind all the bad reviews, this is a crazy gem! True Blawan madness
Free bet on eBay right now from 1 euro .
ffs... of course I discover this only the day after its closed....
HEY THIS IS THE LAST 8 HOURS https://www.ebay.fr/itm/254392937034 to bet ! enjoy
Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage sounds like pylons and wind turbines having a conversation about the humans hiding bodies under his garage... Why?
Interview with Blawan - “It took me a while to realise that people were really into it. I kind of only made the record in the first place really because it was using samples from one of my Mum’s favourite albums, which was by the Fugees. I said to my mum, ‘If I was going to remix this album for you, this is what I would do.’ [laughs] But then I was like, ‘Oh, this is actually kind of worth releasing…’ But it was tongue in cheek record - you can tell it’s not totally serious - but I was surprised at how it took off. And it scared me as well, if I’m honest. It was a direction I didn’t want to go in"
This is ep is like a fuckin horror movie on its own. Also listened to this side a locked groove for about five minutes before realizing
If you like green velvet, check out - Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage. Dark warbling technoNot to everyones taste, fun and NOT cheesy.
Thank god i'm not the only one who always considered this ep utterly garbage,
Your considering is limited , and you are not the only one.
Can Anyone tell me what am I not getting about this record ?The first 3 tracks couldn't be more far away from what I expect of decent Techno ... utter crapThe only track I can imagine listen to twice is "and both his Sons"; Though the track is trying to push me somehow, the vocals are almost non bearable and the rest of the track is just annoying after listening 3 times ...I don't say that a rmx couldn't help, but like this ?So I'm really sorry guys to be the black sheep here, but I feel forced to say "no" to the Hype! ;)
Your getting of techno is limited ... ah ha ha
Its the roughness paired with the funkyness. Its like Vogel or Landstrumm Brighton Style at their beginning! For me 5 Stars...
It's ok for those who can't leave the place due to drug overdose.
I'm willing to trade my copy, its near mint. okido
hi, what would you trade this for ? got warm up 17 & 18(regis and surgeon), both vg+
Willing to trade my Mint copy of "Randomer - Bring/Curtains" for this one. Based in Paris
Heeeeelloooo REPRESS PLEASE ... ?!absolute banger that every1 knows ... why they hide ... top track for me !
a reedit please the price is awful but the sound of this ep is great !
This record sounds a lot like a peak of a trip at a Berghain journey (if you remove the vocal samples and extend the length by 121%). Could anybody share some recommendations to similiar experiences? Would really appreciate that!
exactly, check also "In aeternam Vale_La grille": it's slow but it makes want you to do strange things ... like in berghain
I take back my question. "Planetary Assault Systems - Rip The Cut" just hit the truck.
Lakker - CIARRrose - Waterall
I'm torn on whether or not to buy the repress. It's become such a hit that it might be out of style in no time. I remember when Mills' "The Bells" dropped and everyone and their brother was playing it. It was great for a little while but got over-played fast. Then we had to wait a couple years before people could really cheer for it again. At least that's how I remember it. But all credit is due to Blawan for a killer EP, regardless of whether I or anyone else decides to actually get a copy. By the way, can anyone tell me where the sample comes from, "why they hide their bodies...."??? It gives me the fuckin' creeps, reminds me of a serial killer in the 70's from around my area in Chicago.
Fugees - How Many Mics 3:31
Uhhh...who's debating? It's just a conversation, holmz.
are you not tired of this debate?what are your concerns compared to all those 'fuck-yeah-repress-is-out' moments which hundreds of us experience?
Nice comment.....this is the sort of thing that does get played out of fashion. But that's why we buy vinyl, so we can stick it in the collection, forget about it and dig it up years later.I bought it anyway, due in part to the locked grooves, nice mixing tools!
i don't recall which track exactly, but i heard this same sentence on a Fugees release, by weird it might seem. The vocals are reworked and extended.
Yeah they shouldn't have repressed it, at least when its rare it retains some of its mystery and stays sort of fresh.
Fugees - 'How Many Mics'. A1 and B1 contain samples of it.
how many mics do we rip on the daily?
oh me say me say many, on the daily.Blawan does have a knack for unlikely sing-along phrases......i've heard a packed room singing along to "why do they hide their bodies.......".
I missed this twelve last Summer, ''....Bodies....'is deffo the first thing I've heard by Blawan that has totally blown my socks off. That eerie slackened bass string sound reminds me of the amazing Wires project in Australia. (See here - http://wiredlab.org/wires/) Yeah, it is a bit reminiscent of Levon Vincent doing his take on a dark warehouse track such as 'Where's Your Child' which is possibly the best concept ever. More madness like this please and kudos to the person on YouTube who spotted it was a Fugees sample...totally radio rental...
Just caught the sample while listening to that Fugees record. Of course it's already been spotted and mentioned.
but I just want to know, why they hide they bodies under my garage?
yea, I purchased it. Thanks for the response, makes since. There really having a fun time doing that to prologue releases too.
Unfortunately the discogs micro-economy is played on a "you snooze you lose" basis, run by the lowlifes that buy copies just to sell on when all the stores run out of stock, that way they have a monopoly over people that want it and missed it when it came out. Honestly, if you want it that much you should bite the bullet and buy one on here because the price will keep rising and it's unlikely that they will repress it. Joy Orbison repressed DunDun on his other label Sunklo, but that was because they pressed a ridiculously low amount and within a few months people were trying to sell it on here for £100 and other stupid prices. Whereas that one sold out online in a few hours, this one was around for quite some time, so as Hinge Finger is a relatively small label, they'll probably shelve it and move onto the next project.
Demonic nightmare house. Love it.Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage sure gets the kids revved up and spinning, but I've been playing His Money out more. I adore that Fugees sample.
yeah it's really odd how Juno didn't seem to get copies. It just sold out at Trilogy Tapes, so I'd advise getting your hands on it sooner than later, as this one might be on quite a few end of 2012 lists.
A possible game changer!?
So much better that the previous EP!! 'Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage' is an awesome killer techno banger, 10/5! Other tracks are also very good, each with its own experimental feeling. I can say that Blawan finally found his approach to weird techno after leaving dubstep and other broken beat directions.I want digital release but it's still not available, what a pity...
One of my best buys this year, no doubt. Thank you, Mr. Blawan!
Possible record of the year in 2012.
Great! definitely 5/5
Top notch techno with a dark, industrial twist. Get it while you can!
