The band seems to have some kind of plan at work, but not the type of plan left for others to follow. It's not the kind of algorithm that bears any scrutiny yet, 30 years later, the music remains. And given the state of the boys in der Gruppe, that alone makes it worthy of reissue. By music, I mean their self-titled 1971 debut album and its contents, which consist of the music they played and processed using Kurt Graupner's infamous little black boxes. And by Kurt Graupner, I mean Faust's engineer, the sound wave savior who, perhaps more than any other, was responsible for bringing the group's adventures in hi-fi to acetate. Band Name Faust. Album Name So Far. Type Album. Released date 1972. Labels Polydor. So Far is Fausts sophomore album. In comparison to their self-titled debut, this album contains structured songs rather than free-form jams. While not carrying the staggering momentum of its predecessor, the album pushes for a more paranoid atmosphere, as represented in songs such as Its A Rainy Day and the Frank Zappa inspired Ive Got My Car and My TV. Faust's second album moves closer to actual song structure than their debut, but it still remains experimental. Songs progress and evolve instead of abruptly stopping or cutting into other tracks. The opening song It's a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl begins as a repetitive 44 beat played on toms and piano with the title sung over the top. But for seven minutes the song adds instruments, including a lush analog synth line, and ends in a memorable sax riff. Faust's lyrical side appears on the acoustic Picnic on a Frozen River and On the Way to Adamäe,&quo. Faust: the faust tapes - original 1ST press UK vinyl album on virgin. RUB0 bids. 1, rub p&p.
